From the moment you wake up, life is a constant blur of activity. You chug coffee while gathering jackets, backpacks and kids missing their shoes. You've acquired 437 new emails since breakfast. Your labradoodle just swallowed a hairbrush, and now the vet bills rival your mortgage. Before you know it, it's already dinner o'clock and you have no idea what to make.
Enter Citizen Chef. We're a small group of parents, kids and busy professionals who know first hand how difficult it is to make healthy choices amid the daily hustle and bustle. Instead of throwing our hands up in defeat, we've taken on the challenge to make it easier for busy folks to prepare fresh, healthy, and tasty meals at home. The result? Products that taste as good as they make you feel. Better yet, they're quick and easy to use so when it comes to cooking you can stop saying, "no time!" and start saying, "no sweat!".
What we're all about
At its core, Citizen Chef is about empowering people to make healthier choices for their bodies and the planet. We're a pretty light-hearted bunch, but there are a few things we take very seriously.
We love fresh ingredients that are packed with an abundance of flavor and nutrients, and that's exactly what you'll find in our products. Fresh, raw vegetables, abundant grains and mouthwatering sauces. All of our ingredients are all natural, all the time - no artificial flavors, no preservatives, no funny business.
Think of us as your personal sous chef. We'll help with the recipe planning, ingredient shopping, and prep work. You make the magic happen from there!
As Michael Pollan said, "cooking gives us not just the meal but the occasion." It's also been proven that eating together with your favorite people makes you not only happier, but also smarter (it may even help your love life too!).
Meet team Citizen Chef
We'd also like to give a huge shout-out to the rest of the team that has been and continues to be a huge part of Citizen Chef- Chris, Lora, Lou, and the whole crew at Taylor Farms!

Born and raised in Salinas, CA – often called the “Salad Bowl of the World” – Drew was surrounded by vegetables long before he could pronounce the word ‘arugula’. Drew’s passion for health and his close relationships with the people who grow, wash, pack, and deliver some of the healthiest food on earth were the initial ingredients in the recipe that would ultimately become Citizen Chef.
When Lauren was in the 6th grade, her best friend's mom, Helen, was diagnosed with bone cancer. After completely changing her diet and lifestyle, Helen was able to overcome the cancer, and is still alive today. Since then, Lauren has been fascinated by the ability of food to both harm and to heal us. Hippocrates wrote, "Let food be thy medicine," and it's her hope that by enabling better options we'll increase the number of people who are not just living, but living well!
Selina has always been passionate about food and its relationship to human health and the health of the planet.
